Published by Matt M on

Please join us on October 8th, 2024 for networking starting at 11:30AM and a presentation at noon by SCDOT’s Design Automation Policy and Procedure Engineer, Seth Lown, PE, on OpenRoads and OpenBridge Designer Updates. Lunch will be provided, please see below links for payment.

Speaker Bio: Seth received his Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He started helping his dad survey at a young age and continued to survey from then on. He has over 20 years of surveying experience including boundary, topography and construction. Seth is also an Eagle Scout.

Seth began his career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) as a geodetic technician in District 5. While beginning his career, he learned about SCDOT Standards, construction inspection, traffic control, material testing, and also emergency weather responses. His journey continued back closer to his home in Lexington SC, where he worked several years in District 1 as a project manager, overseeing resurfacing projects, safety improvements, bridge construction and bridge rehabilitation projects. Seth continued advancing his duties and saw a unique path, combining his field experience with his passion for design and now serves as SCDOT’s Design Automation Policy and Procedure Engineer (D.A.P.A.P.E.)

Seth and his wife, Jena live in Irmo SC with their dog, Klaus and they are expecting a little baby girl in November – so he has been very busy with remodeling their bathroom, assembling all kinds of furniture, and building a screened in porch. When Seth is not working he enjoys spending his time playing golf, bowling and volunteering.  Seth also plays chess on occasion and is always up for a game.
